Oooer ..... Bit of an odd one actually. Sad to say I witnessed some of the stuff that gets reported on Trip Advisor which I'd previously not believed. (Rows amongst staff). We'd booked a table for six, waited at the bar to give our food order but she said rather abruptly (at 5 to 6) that she wasnt going to the kitchen and not taking any more food orders. "Too many tickets already". Then she walked off as though I had some nerve asking. Even more embarrassing I'd raved about this place to my daughter who couldnt believe what had happened! So I'm standing there feeling really awkward and looking a bit silly. Couldnt just leave because girls playing outside and I'd just got a tea. I wrote down our order and went to sit outside. Terry came to the rescue and put our order in but if it had been a first visit, the customer would have left with a shocking impression of the service no doubt. As ever the food was superb - totally out of this world!!! But they really need some staff training ..... not sure where the original bar staff have gone?

Hi all you Royal Oak eaters

can you give any ideas of the prices they charge? Are they reasonable? Do they do breakfasts? Do they put special offers on I.e 2 4 1?

Look forward to your replies.

They do a sunday carvery to 4pm which is £6.95 £7.95 & 8.95 (small, med & large) TBH the small one is enough for me as you can add as much veg/pots as you can fit on the plate and the meat (turkey, pork, gammon and beef this week) is excellent and plentiful.

They have special steak nights (cant remember which night which is 2 rumps and a bottle of wine for £20) / Curry night & Fish and Chip Friday is £4.50 for F&C Bread & butter n a pot of tea! Full menu is always available (except Sundays) Kids meals are freshly prepared and the kids chicken nuggets are not out of a frozen packet and are big enough for an adult meal!

Overall the quality of the food served makes it good value for money and I dont know anyone who has ever left still hungry after a meal there.

Burger and chips and salad were about £5, all day breakfast (truly spectacular and only for the brave) was £5.95, kids meals, £3.95 (I think) and steak night is Tuesday, £16.99 per couple.

Hi all

Well I went and none of you were joking about the quality and the prices.

I had steak pie and hubby had the gammon. We were both stuffed but hubby still had room to finish my pie even though I don't know where he put it!

Will definitely be going again.

Without drinks the bill was £17 and worth every penny.

Glad you liked it. If you are on trip advisor you can leave feedback for them there too!

Yes, that might be an idea. They had another two very poor reviews -- I know it wasnt staff but I really dont know what goes on with some visitors....
