The Dottrel, Reighton

Post by Celtygirl » 7 years ago

New owners there this year, and the food is lovely. Quite a short menu as everything is freshly cooked. The children's menu was all fresh too - the chicken nuggest were pieces of chicken breast cooked in a home made batter. Nice ambience too.

2 x children's meals, 2 x rump steaks, 1 x liver and bacon, 3 alcoholic drinks and 3 soft drinks = £36 - well impressed and will definately be returning

Might have to give it a try. Did they have anything for vegetarians?

Jo.

Wasn't looking specifically, but think nut roast was on the general menu(only half a dozen items), then the specials.

Oh dear, just been for the first time - and last, this season. Menu longer and no longer all home made, greasy (should have been warned by the smell of chip fat outside the entrance. All in all, very dissapointing :frown:

Just shows how people have different experiences of the same place. I hadnt posted this before cos I thought it might just be me. But the chips tasted positively weird - old fat? But when the 'chef' said she made her own pasta I actually thought she meant she made her own pasta! "oh no, I dont know how to do that" she said, "I use the dried stuff, but not bottled sauce..." Thing is though, they were really friendly and this is what did it for me: The kids asked for orange juice - the waiter just put it down and said 'oh, that's ok, its only cordial and water'. What???? When Haven bleed you dry for every penny!! I just couldnt believe it. And for that alone, they deserve a second visit.....
