Littlesea vs Weymouth Bay

Post by Shelley65 » 2 years ago

Hi have looked at a Abi 8 berth on Littlesea Weymouth and looked at a pitch available. Am torn between Littlesea and Weymouth Bay. Has anyone got any info on either site good or bad. This is the first time looking at a Static after owning a Tourer for years (seasonal pitch). Are the site fees cheaper in one park against the other or are they the same? Any advice for a Static newby would be great

Thanks

We were on Weymouth bay and left as the facilities are not up to much unless you have very small children. The swimming pool is very small as you would have seen and no sea views. The crazy golf is very ancient and there does not appear to be any investment at Weymouth it always goes to littlesea. The owners facilities are superior at Littlesea but it depends what you want.
You need to look at the pros and cons for both sites depending on what you want from the site and your caravan.
Spend your time at both sites and not with the salesmen. Look around and talk to other owners.

When we looked at Littlesea the pitches we were offered were not good ones - all without sea views and some with limited parking (we were intending to move our static rather than buy new though). I asked if we accepted that pitch would we be able to move to a better pitch once we'd been on the site a while, and were told no only if we upgraded or bought a new van, so be aware that if you are not 100% happy with the pitch they have offered you then you will have to upgrade your van to change that pitch.

The views are lovely at Littlesea, we stayed there in our tourer, but were disappointed with the beach there as when we were there it was just mud. Don't know Weymouth bay at all so can't comment. We did look at Rockley park also, but pitch fees were very expensive. However the owners facilities were second to none with an owners only pool area and bar area which did look really lovely, and activities such as sailing available as well as a beach.

We did move our van eventually from Thorpe Park (a huge site - we were happy there move due to house relocation), and we ended up at Doniford Bay, a small friendly site with beach access and the site fees were cheaper than both Rockley and Littlesea, and we've been happy there for the last 1 1/2 years or so. Our boys are nearly 8 and 10 and there is enough to keep them occupied, and we like it being a smaller site as the staff are getting to know them and I feel happier giving them a little bit of independence like letting them go to the shop on their own, which we wouldn't have been comfortable doing on the larger site.

There are lots of useful posts on here about what to consider when choosing a site and a van. Good Luck! I hope you find a park and van that suits you.

If you haven't already done so, have a look at the 'HOF Guide' (link at top of page) you will find some useful information in there.

We looked at both sites before we bought in 2013. Weymouth Bay was too big for us so plumped for Littlesea. We are now looking to leave Littlesea as the customer service is terrible. It took over a year to organise a repair for our brand new caravan. We have had numerous other problems as well and just want out of there but even leaving the park is proving costly and time consuming. The maintenance guys are brilliant and the park is lovely, but let down by the staff. In my opinion, Littlesea is also more set up for holidaymakers rather than owners and the owners are a bit cliquey

We moved our van from Thorpe Park in Lincs to Doniford Bay in Somerset. It didn't cost us anything other than a gas and electric check when it was sited.

As previously stated facilities at Weymouth Bay very limited and outdated lovely pools but not all are open no investment all going to Haven rental site Seaview which you can use free of charge and no owner facilities
