Re: Questions for My Visit to Hemel on 26th March

I would consider myself a 'newbie' compared to many others and post when relative. I do feel someimes it is hard to talk positively on the forum however because there are many memebers who are generally negative. At the end of the day these are valid opinions and are important.

I'm not afraid to give my opinion however as that is also jsut as valid.

I did once howner try to start a positive thread, something along the lines of what thing do you enjoy most about owning a caravan and still someone managed to bring the topic down.

I do think however whilst I will repeat myself and thank Keith again for everyhting he does I'm not sure that our points are always valid. I did comment on the validity of some of the points to be raised but they were being raised because somebody had that opinion, what about the person having an opposite oppinion was that raised too?

The comments from BL are fair and reflective of a business of their size. They can't re-invent the wheel nor do they need to. They are a profitable business with a great business model. They are never going to please 25,000 or how ever many owners they have and every single holiday guest. Let's remember this forum represents the opinion of a very small number of these people.

I'm afraid some of the 'questions' are not even questions they are statements and an opinion. i.e. the sound level in venues is too loud! Is it? really? How many complaints do BL get about this in a year from their thousands of owners and guests? If they were inundated do you really beleive that they would do nothing about it? How can such a sweeping statement even be made with out any detail. When was it too loud and at which park? Was it a specific act?

The pools are too cold? Are they really? Every pool on every park is too cold all the time is it? I'm sorry I don't beleive that and BL's comments confirm they are operating within sensible temp levels. I know at Presthaven for example there have been some issues with the pool, but the team communicates and let's people know and on a day when the pool was completely out of action they made all the other activities free. What more can you expect?

Again I know people have different experiences park by park but running to Hemel will just result in strict processes being placed at every park meaning most will loose out where they have a flexible approach.

I'm afraid whilst all of the opinions raised are individual and valid it doesn't do the forum any favours taking it to BL at the level we do without any editing or censoring.

Once again Keith you do a great job so thank you however if we want more positive interaction with BL a re-think of how we structure our comms to them is needed.

springhay wrote:I understand what you are saying Keith.....but with the greatest respect, Im just not sure that taking the time to write, is enough criteria for a point being raised? Name badges for instance? Im a bit dodgy sightwise myslf but find them perfectly easy to read... As previously mentioned, pools opening in the closed season is a waste of time, when you think they cant even get the temperature right in the open season?

Its just about maintaining credibility, and/or the number of people who raised the same question must surely come into play?

Completely agree Springhay, and Keith I am greatful of your work and do not mean to undermine it by suggesting they are they views of a minority, I'm just being factual I have thanked you twice in my post and again you do a great job, but again as Springhay has said let's keep credibility.

Re: Questions for My Visit to Hemel on 26th March

springhay wrote:I might be sticking my neck out here, but as ever, people can agree or disagree. But Im not entirely in agreement with question 14 which I must hve missed yesterday.

For me, the closed season is the closed season. Once my van is made safe, drained down, I dont see it again until March. I think its unrealistic to ask about owners having more things to do. The cost of staffing, and running a venue is bound to come back on ownrs anyway -- but swimming pools is totally unrealistic. They too will have had their heating system drained down or winterised? The cost of taking extremely cold water to to body temp is extremely high. I think the sales dept. offering a few weeken activities just before we officially open in March, is as much as we will see.

I just think we might be seen to lose credibility?

I totally agree we could loose face with a couple of these questions. Whilst this comment is great and Keith's work is very much appreciates let's remember this forum is the voice of a minority and granted anyone is welcome to join and comment but it is a minority and BL should always consider the wider group.

The one that will really show us is a ridiculous light is

7. Paper bills before it hits the account? Really where are we 1975? The system is live! It will show when it is applied. IT then takes time to print and post. I for one think BL should be stopping paper bills and cutting the waste and cost. I appreciate some people may not have internet access but if this is a question from the forum members then the people raising it clearly do! Maybe we should be supporting BL to move forward not backwards and the suggestion should be what about making paper bills an opt in only for those who do not have on line access.

I was impressed yesterday when talking to the park about a job it was updated on the website before I went off the phone!! Great stuff BL.

Others that I personally think are a bit contentious

15. Owners Swims. How annoyed would you be if you went on holiday and you couldn't use the pool at a peak time as it was owners only? Where facilities are general and not owners exclusive I think the fact they open early or close late to allow it to be used by owners only is just fine.

20. Name badges? Really rather trivial I think? They wear badges similar to any other brand. If you want to know someone's name how about engaging with them and asking. I have never met a Haven team member who wouldn't only be to pleased to have a chat with you.

I know what I would say to these if I was BL!!!

I know this may be controversail to some but it is my opionion which is as valid as the person raising the question.

There are some really valid points on the list and again Keith thank you for giving up your time to do all this however let's be a little careful shall we.
